Wenxin Tai and Chengtai Cao join the lab as postdocs
台文鑫、曹丞泰加入实验室担任博士后研究人员
Wenxin Tai and Chengtai Cao have joined the lab as postdocs.
Wenxin Tai completed his PhD in our group. He works on trustworthy and explainable machine learning — why self-interpretable graph neural networks give inconsistent explanations, and how to make them more reliable — and on uncertainty-aware models for IP geolocation.
Chengtai Cao received his PhD from the City University of Hong Kong, where he studied uncertainty modelling and calibration for decision-making in autonomous driving. He also works on graph learning, meta-learning, and continual learning.

Congratulations to Wenxin Tai on passing his doctoral dissertation defense. During his PhD he produced several important results on explainable and trustworthy graph learning.
Wenxin Tai nominated for the UESTC Most Outstanding Graduate Students Award
台文鑫获得“成电杰出学生（研究生）提名奖”荣誉称号
Wenxin Tai has received the Nomination Award of The Most Outstanding Students Award of UESTC (Graduate Students), one of the university’s most prestigious honors for graduate students.
The award recognises the top ten master’s and PhD students across the entire university each year. In the 2025 selection, 25 finalists were invited to the final defense, from which ten students received the award and ten were granted nomination awards. Wenxin represented the School of Information and Software Engineering in this highly competitive university-wide evaluation.
Zhangtao Cheng and Liu Yu selected for the CAST Young Science and Technology Scientists Sponsorship Program

Two of our students, Zhangtao Cheng and Liu Yu, have been selected for the second Young Science and Technology Scientists Sponsorship Program by CAST, Doctoral Student Special Plan.
Their supporting societies are the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (Zhangtao Cheng) and the China Computer Federation (Liu Yu).
Wenxin Tai and Xovee Xu selected for the CAST Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program
实验室成员入选中国科协青年人才托举工程博士生专项计划
Two of our students, Wenxin Tai and Xovee Xu, have been selected for the inaugural Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program by CAST, Doctoral Student Special Plan.
Only 27 doctoral students from UESTC were selected this year. Xu is one of three selected from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, and Tai is the only one from the School of Information and Software Engineering. Their supporting societies are the Acoustical Association of China (Wenxin Tai) and the China Computer Federation (Xovee Xu).
Six lab members receive the National Scholarship

Congratulations to Yi, Yanlong, Jian, Bin, Kai, and Jienan on receiving the National Scholarship, one of the highest honors for university students in China.
Best Paper Candidate at IEEE ICME 2024
IEEE ICME 2024 会议最佳论文候选
Our paper “RRE: A Relevance Relation Extraction Framework for Cross-domain Recommender System at Alipay” was selected as one of the candidate papers for Best Papers and Best Student Papers at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME). The work was completed by Xovee Xu and Jiayang Gu during their internships at Alipay.
Five awards at the People's Daily Online AI Algorithm Challenge

Our lab won two runner-up awards and three third places at the 2023 AI Algorithm Challenge hosted by People’s Daily Online and the State Key Laboratory of Communication Content Cognition, standing out among 852 teams from 176 schools. (Coverage in Chinese.)
Best Student Paper Award at IEEE MDM 2023

The paper “RIPGeo: Robust Street-Level IP Geolocation” won the Best Student Paper Award at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM). Congratulations to Wenxin Tai, Bin Chen, Kai Chen, Ting Zhong, Yong Wang, and Fan Zhou.
